This heavy duty use barrel by FN is 14.7" rather than the mil spec 14.5" to enable those looking to pin and weld a standard A2 flash-hider to hit the minimum 16" overall length to avoid NFA hassles on their M4 inspired clones.

FN utilizes cold hammer forging to create this barrel out of CMV steel that is then magnet particle tested to ensure it is free from micro-stresses and flaws before being chrome lined from chamber to bore, thus preventing corrosion and erosion from abusive sustained-fire while ensuring reliable chambering and extraction. Additionally, the M4 feed-ramps and barrel-extension provide consistent feeding while the black oxide finish resists external corrosion and oxidation.
